Waterfowl Hunts at CDFW Ecological Reserve
A small boat, canoe, or other flotation device is recommended to access ponds and blinds.
On select dates, 20 hunters can participate in waterfowl hunts at the Congressman Pete Stark Ecological Reserve in Hayward, managed by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW).
The ecological reserve features restored salt pond habitat and will be open to 100 hunters on a first-come, first-served basis with no entry fee.
These hunts typically have a two- to three-bird average per hunter with northern shoveler and American wigeon being the most common harvest
Said Wildlife Biologist and Reserve Manager Garrett Allen, highlighting the uniqueness of Eden Landing waterfowl hunts with no entry fees and hunting on select Tuesdays and Thursdays.
