Owls Outlast Friars in Overtime

Temple Field Hockey scored in the final two minutes of overtime to pick up a 3-2 win against Providence in its season finale.

Temple’s season was dwindling down as it trailed by one goal with five minutes left in the fourth quarter against Providence. The Owls were searching for a spark to end their season on a high note, which they found in midfielder Lucia Magro.

Temple fired three straight shots on Providence’s defense before Magro finally found the goal to level the game at two and force overtime. The teams were scoreless in overtime for eight minutes before midfielder Peyton Rieger scored to send Temple home with a win.

Temple (12-6, 3-4 Big East Conference) defeated Providence (8-9, 1-6 Big East) 3-2 in overtime Friday afternoon at Lennon Family Field. The Owls matched their win total from last season but will miss the Big East tournament.
