A new metro station in Tehran, named Maryam-e Moqaddas or Holy Mary station, features Christian-themed decorations and plaques.
Inside the station, a plaque reads:
“the message of Jesus Christ was the salvation of humans from darkness, ignorance, corruption, depravity and discrimination.”
State media describes the station's name and motif as a gesture of cultural coexistence, noting that Mary is also a venerated figure in Islam.
