St. Joseph Catholic School Apologizes for Auschwitz Imagery

St. Joseph Catholic School has apologized for featuring Auschwitz imagery on its float in the Hanover Halloween Parade.

"I was shocked and appalled,"
said Bishop Timothy C. Senior in a statement.

The float included a replica of the Auschwitz concentration camp gate with the phrase "Arbeit Macht Frei" (work sets you free), which is one of the most recognizable visual icons of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz Birkenau, according to the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Poland.
