Democrats Gain Seats in Suffolk and Nassau Legislatures
Democrats have made gains in both the Suffolk and Nassau County Legislatures, with one Republican incumbent being unseated in Suffolk and an open seat being claimed in Nassau.
- Democrat Greg Doroski defeated Republican Legis. Stark in Suffolk's 1st District for the North Fork seat.
- In Nassau, Democrats claimed an open seat, further expanding their presence.
“In Suffolk County, when we get knocked down, we get right back up and we’re ready to fight,” said Suffolk Democratic chairman Richard Schaffer.
No other incumbents appeared to be ousted in either county, although results were not yet conclusive in Nassau's 9th district.
