Hundreds of Welsh farmers and landowners have filed a High Court lawsuit against Green GEN Cymru, a company planning to build pylon highways across rural Wales. More than 300 individuals accuse the energy firm of an unlawful use of authority to gain entry to private property.
“Homes are being invaded.”
Court filings allege that company representatives acted coercively and recklessly, ignoring both environmental safeguards and the well-being of local communities. The agents are accused of attempting to access farmland without proper consent to carry out surveys for pylons stretching over 200 kilometers through Wales.
The project proposes three power line routes across the counties of Powys, Ceredigion, and Carmarthenshire, extending toward the Cambrian Mountains. These routes have been met with strong opposition from local farmers and residents who prefer the cables to be buried underground rather than placed overhead.
“Industrialising the Welsh countryside.”
Residents interviewed in Powys expressed shock and frustration, describing the plans as a threat to the natural beauty of Wales. Many fear the towering metallic pylons will permanently alter some of the most scenic rural areas.
Over 300 Welsh landowners and farmers are taking Green GEN Cymru to court, alleging the firm’s forceful and careless push for pylon access threatens both property rights and the countryside’s beauty.
