We’re back to Green on the Threat Tracker as winds have calmed and we’re only facing some passing lake rain showers this morning. Rain chances should clear by the afternoon, with partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-40s. Winds remain light, with the strongest gusts around 20 MPH.
Tomorrow, winds will increase ahead of another front, bringing gusts up to 30 MPH and rain during the afternoon and evening. Saturday will be cool and cloudy with calmer winds. On Sunday, a low pressure system will pass nearby, bringing rain locally and snow for areas across the lake.
Cold air will wrap around the system Sunday night, offering our first chance for snow. Higher elevations have the best chance to see flakes.
Monday, cold Canadian air will push deep into the US, bringing some lake-effect snow as the wind shifts out of the north. Tuesday offers a better chance for lake-effect snow from Lake Ontario with northwest winds. Significant accumulations are not expected, but timing and amounts will be clearer in the coming days.
Both Monday and Tuesday will remain cold, with highs not exceeding the 30s. A clipper system will pass through Wednesday, delivering rain and breezy conditions.
“Make sure to tune back in for updates on that.”
Summary: A cool, mainly dry day precedes increasing winds and rain, with our first chance for snow Sunday night, continuing into early next week with lake-effect snow possible.
