Several Miss Universe contestants left a pre-pageant event in Thailand after a heated dispute between Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch and pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil. The confrontation, which occurred on Tuesday and was captured on livestream, began when Bosch declined a request to promote the host country on social media.
Itsaragrisil reportedly asked all contestants to share posts endorsing Thailand, saying,
“You are in Thailand. You are in a game.”Bosch refused, leading to visible tension in the room. When she attempted to clarify her reasons, the executive interrupted and accused her of following instructions from the Miss Mexico directors rather than cooperating with the Miss Universe management.
The disagreement escalated when Itsaragrisil called Bosch a
“dummy”and ordered her to sit down. Bosch responded,
“Because I have a voice. You’re not respecting me as a woman.”Several contestants voiced their support for Bosch, leading the executive to summon security to remove her from the room.
As she was escorted out, Bosch turned to Itsaragrisil and said,
“As women, you need to show respect for us.”The incident drew strong reactions online, with many viewers criticizing the executive’s behavior and applauding Bosch’s stance for self-respect and dignity.
The clash between Miss Mexico and a pageant executive over demands to promote Thailand led to a mass walkout, highlighting tensions around respect and autonomy in global pageants.
