Radio host and former TV presenter Carrie Bickmore has been honoured as the 2026 Victorian Australian of the Year for her exceptional work in raising funds to advance brain cancer research.

Ms. Bickmore founded the Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer Foundation in 2015, inspired by the loss of her husband, Greg Lange, who passed away from brain cancer in 2010. Since then, she has raised over $27 million to support research efforts.

In 2021, Bickmore launched The Brain Cancer Centre, a collaborative initiative that brings together researchers and clinicians to conduct clinical trials and projects aiming to enhance treatment options and improve survival rates for brain cancer patients.
