To honor Remembrance Day and the sacrifices of those who served, several ceremonies are scheduled in local cities including Hamilton, Burlington, and Brantford. Most federal services and federally regulated businesses like banks and postal services will be closed on November 11.
An event recognizing Indigenous Veteran’s Day will be held on Friday, November 7, at 11:30 a.m. at Battlefield House Museum and Park, 77 King St.
“This service acknowledges and commemorates the contributions made by Indigenous veterans in service to Turtle Island,” the City of Hamilton said in a news release.
The ceremony at the Eagles Among Us Indigenous Monument will be followed by refreshments featuring Indigenous flavors. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs due to limited seating.
The city’s garrison parade will begin at 10:15 a.m. on November 9, with the service starting at 10:45 a.m. The parade will include Hamilton veterans, garrison units, and cadet corps, beginning at John Foote V.C. N. and proceeding south to Gore Park on King Street East.
The service will take place at Gore Park’s Veteran’s Place.
