The 08:02 ScotRail service from Wick to Inverness was cancelled due to a technical fault on the train. Passengers waiting at stations along the route were informed that their tickets would be honored on an alternative bus service.
A ScotRail spokesperson explained the situation:
“The cancellation is due to a train fault. We have arranged for valid tickets and Smartcards to be accepted on the Stagecoach X99 service at 09:20 at no extra cost. Please show your ticket or pass to the driver on request.”
The spokesman also noted that the switch to road transport would increase journey times:
“Due to the use of road transport, your journey time will be extended and we apologise for the disruption to your journey on this route. If you are delayed over 30 minutes you can make a claim by visiting ScotRail.co.uk/delay-repay.”
Summary: The morning Wick to Inverness train was cancelled due to a fault, with passengers offered bus alternatives and compensation options for delays over 30 minutes.
