Tensions escalated at the Miss Universe Thailand 2025 event when the show's Thai director, Nawat Itsaragrisil, publicly confronted Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch. The confrontation triggered walkouts from several contestants and drew widespread media attention.
The incident took place on November 4 during a livestreamed sashing ceremony in Bangkok. According to reports, Nawat reprimanded Bosch for skipping a sponsorship photoshoot to participate in a Telemundo filming session. The exchange, broadcast live, showed rising tension among the contestants as the situation unfolded.
“Stop. If anyone wants to continue the contest, sit down,”
Nawat said during the livestream as several participants stood up in protest.
Following the director’s remarks, Bosch left the venue, and a number of contestants walked out in solidarity with her. Later, Nawat made additional comments during another clip, reportedly inviting everyone back “except Mexico,” claiming the contestant was “talking too much.”
Addressing the situation on TikTok, Fátima Bosch criticized the behaviour of the MGI president, calling it disrespectful and unprofessional.
“What your director just did is not respectful. He called me dumb because he has problems with the organization.”
The Miss Universe 2025 controversy revealed deep tensions in pageant culture, as Miss Mexico's confrontation with the Thai director sparked solidarity, outrage, and debate over respect in competition.
