Guernsey’s Alex Scott has been selected for Thomas Tuchel’s England team ahead of the final World Cup Qualifiers in November. After his £25 million transfer to Bournemouth from Bristol City, Scott has made a strong impact in the Premier League, drawing attention from the England coach.
Scott joins a distinguished group of Channel Islanders, including Matt Le Tissier and Graeme Le Saux, who have represented England's men's team.
“He had an excellent [Under-21s] Euros, he won the title. Lee [Carsley] was full of praise; he did an excellent job in midfield with Elliot Anderson. He is a regular starter for Bournemouth, who are overperforming constantly, and he is a starter for them. He puts the intensity in, he gets minutes, so we thought this is the perfect time to reward him, get to know him better and see what he can bring to the team.”
The Three Lions will return to Wembley on 13 November to face Serbia, followed by a match against Albania three days later.
Author's summary: Alex Scott’s rise at Bournemouth earned him a well-deserved England call-up, highlighting his midfield strength and impact at a Premiership level.
