NHL Notebook: Devils Passing Every Test

The New Jersey Devils continue to excel as they face challenging games. Just two days after an overtime victory against the Montreal Canadiens, the Devils won 2-1 in a shootout over the Pittsburgh Penguins during a Sunday afternoon match at the Prudential Center.

They remain the only NHL team undefeated at home with a 7-0 record. These back-to-back wins came against top teams: Montreal was second-best in the Eastern Conference, and the Devils and Penguins were first and second in the Metropolitan Division before Sunday's games.

Despite the strong start, it is still early in the season, with playoff spots decided months later and the Stanley Cup playoffs beginning in about eight weeks. Head coach Sheldon Keefe reflected on the team's tough schedule:

“We’ve had lots of them. Those two games coming back from the road, those are real good teams, but I feel like every team we’ve played is really good. Even some of the games that we’ve played where you think it’s a team that didn’t make the playoffs or whatever it is last year, you look now and those teams are surging. Everyone’s good, every game is good."

The Devils' consistent performance early in the season highlights their strength against strong competition.

Author's summary: The New Jersey Devils remain undefeated at home, overcoming strong opponents early in the NHL season, demonstrating resilience and solid team effort.
