Unpacking the Twist in 'Gen V' Episode 7
'Gen V' co-creator Eric Kripke discusses the major plot reveal in episode 7, where Dr. Thomas Godolkin is exposed as the true identity behind Cipher.
The twist shows Dr. Godolkin, played by Ethan Slater, has been disguising himself as Godolkin University dean Cipher, portrayed by Hamish Linklater, throughout the season.
Dr. Godolkin's plan was to train Marie to become strong enough to obtain the power of healing and/or resurrection.
- Marie, played by Jaz Sinclair, is tricked into bringing Dr. Godolkin back to his original form.
- Dr. Godolkin then removes himself from his host, Cipher, whose real name is revealed to be Doug Brightbill.
The episode ends with Cate and Jordan carrying a passed-out Marie, who is completely drained from restoring Dr. Godolkin.
Kripke also addresses the timeline between the end of 'Gen V' Season 2 and the beginning of 'The Boys' Season 5.
