A 23-year-old Brazilian social media influencer, Melissa Said, has been caught after a manhunt. She is accused of leading a major criminal gang involved in cannabis distribution and money laundering.
Said, who has over 340K Instagram followers, was on the run since Wednesday when her properties were raided by the Bahia Civil Police in northeast Brazil. She is alleged to have facilitated and encouraged the smuggling of illegal substances in Bahia and São Paulo.
She was arrested while hiding at a friend's house in Bahia, following an intensive surveillance effort.
