Police in Dahod have busted a gang of beggars who stole ₹5 lakh from a trader under the pretext of seeking alms.
The seven-member gang, consisting of six women and one man, all from Maharashtra, was arrested. Officers recovered ₹5 lakh in cash and a Tata Safari worth ₹1 lakh, totaling ₹6 lakh in seized property.
The theft occurred on October 29, when six women entered a trader’s office at the Dahod grain market posing as beggars and stole ₹5 lakh from a drawer.
During questioning, they confessed to the theft.
