ABx Group (ASX: ABX) has announced impressive results from larger-scale metallurgical testing at its Deep Leads ionic adsorption clay rare earth project in northern Tasmania.
The testing, conducted in collaboration with the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO), showed retention of over 98% of total rare earths and complete removal of key impurities such as aluminium.
Managing director Dr Mark Cooksey stated that the results demonstrate the potential for ABx to produce high-purity mixed rare earth carbonate (MREC) products at low cost using simple, environmentally benign processing conditions.
The company's achievements indicate a significant step forward in rare earth production.
