Smith Reflects on Seconds' Summer
Tom Smith, second-team coach at Yorkshire County Cricket Club, has been looking back on the 2025 summer, highlighting "really good performances" at second-team level.
Despite results being "a bit up and down", Smith notes that five players have advanced their games, earning maiden professional contracts ahead of 2026.
- Will Bennison and Matthew Firbank were the first to receive contracts, making their first-team debuts in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup and earning England Under 19s call-ups.
- They will tour the Caribbean from mid-November to December.
- Jay Singh, Owen Smith, and Charlie H Taylor have also signed rookie pro terms at Headingley.
"It's massive for those lads,"
said former England Lions all-rounder Smith.
