UVic Women's Field Hockey Team Loses National Title
The UVic Vikes women's field hockey team lost the U Sports national championship game 1-0 to the York Lions on November 2.
The team's streak of six consecutive national titles came to an end with a late goal from York's Juliet Redelaar, scoring the only goal of the match past Victoria goalkeeper Anais Chace with just three minutes remaining.
The Vikes had a strong round-robin performance, going 2-0-1 with a 0-0 draw against York, and wins against Dalhousie 3-0 and the University of Prince Edward Island 4-0.
Victoria's hopes of a seventh consecutive field hockey national title ended in heartbreak.
