Nawat Itsaragrisil, a 60-year-old TV personality and executive of the Miss Universe Organization, issued a public apology after insulting Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, in an incident that quickly went viral on social media.
During a press conference on November 5, Itsaragrisil expressed regret over his behavior:
“I didn’t want to do anything like that.”Multiple reports noted that he became emotional and broke down in tears while addressing the press.
Later that day, at a ceremony, Itsaragrisil directly apologized to the contestants:
“I want to take this opportunity to say something about something that’s happened. Because I am a human.”He acknowledged the pressure he faces and emphasized,
“I have not intend to hurt anyone.”
He also said,
“I have to apologize for the delegates,”and bowed respectfully to the women present. His apology extended to Miss Universe followers and anyone affected by the incident.
The controversy arose during a sash ceremony earlier that week, when Itsaragrisil called Miss Mexico, aged 25, a “dumbhead,” a term regarded as an insult meaning “fool” or “empty-headed.” This exchange quickly gained attention online.
Nawat Itsaragrisil apologized sincerely after insulting Miss Mexico, acknowledging the pressure he faces but expressing regret for his hurtful words and promising to make amends.
