Varun Chakaravarthy once again proved to be a nemesis for Glenn Maxwell, dismissing the Australian star for the sixth time in T20 cricket. This marks the fifth occasion Maxwell has been bowled by the mystery spinner — the joint-highest such record against any bowler.
Only Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja, with seven dismissals each, have removed Maxwell more often than Chakaravarthy.
Returning to the Australian XI after an injury, Maxwell came to the crease at number seven when his team needed 70 runs from 41 balls. Under pressure, he attempted a big shot but completely missed a tight delivery from Chakaravarthy that gently clipped the stumps.
India had earlier set Australia a target of 168 runs. Although the visitors started well, they lost momentum with a series of quick wickets. India eventually sealed victory by 48 runs, taking a 2–1 lead in the five-match T20 series.
“The two teams will face off next at The Gabba on November 8 (Saturday).”
Varun Chakaravarthy’s precise bowling once again exposed Glenn Maxwell’s weakness, helping India secure victory and a 2–1 series advantage in Australia.
