Hull KR Explain Venue Change for Brisbane World Club Challenge

Hull KR officials announced that although Craven Park is their home ground, their upcoming 2026 World Club Challenge match against the Brisbane Broncos will take place at the MKM Stadium, home to local rivals Hull FC. This decision is due to capacity constraints at Craven Park.

Reason for Venue Switch

"It's not just a game for Hull KR fans, it's for rugby league fans. We want as many people as possible to watch it and our stadium isn't big enough," said Hull KR chief executive Paul Lakin.

The Super League and Australian NRL champions will face off on 19 February 2026. The MKM Stadium, also home to football club Hull City, holds 25,586 spectators — more than double Craven Park's 11,000 capacity.

Ticketing and Fan Experience

"I'm sure there'll be some fans who will be disappointed but Craven Park isn't big enough to host a game of this magnitude. The most important thing is that we're not travelling away and we're staying in the city of Hull," added Paul Lakin.

He emphasized that the move allows fans of Hull KR, other Super League supporters, and Broncos fans to attend easily.

Additional Arrangements

Hull KR will cover flights and hotel accommodation for the Brisbane Broncos as part of the agreement to host the 2026 competition.

Summary: Hull KR will host the 2026 World Club Challenge at the larger MKM Stadium to accommodate more fans, ensuring a bigger audience while maintaining the event within Hull.
