Mayor Ray Hilts and the new council of Whitecourt were sworn in following the 2025 municipal election.
The oaths of office ceremony took place at the Forest Interpretive Centre, where Hilts expressed his honour to serve as Mayor, stating:
“It’s an absolute honour to be the Mayor of Whitecourt and serve the community,”
“I’m humbled by the trust that our citizens have put in me, and I look forward to serving them for the next four years.”
Hilts won the election with 988 votes, surpassing Derek Schlosser's 787 votes, and a voter turnout of 25%. He outlined his priorities for the next term, including crime, county relations, and the budget.
