Fans of Stranger Things got an unexpected treat as Netflix unveiled the first five minutes of the fifth and final season. This preview reveals a surprising start, set during events from season 1.
The scene begins on November 12, 1983, six days after Will Byers originally disappeared. Noah Schnapp, de-aged to portray 12-year-old Will, appears frightened and confused inside the Upside Down’s version of Castle Byers. To soothe himself, Will quietly sings “Should I Stay or Should I Go” by The Clash, a song his older brother Jonathan introduced in the series pilot.
Suddenly, a demogorgon crashes inside the castle. Will fights back using a hunting rifle and tries to escape by climbing a tree, but the creature pursues him. After falling unconscious, Will is dragged to the Upside Down’s version of Hawkins Library, where he faces the villain Vecna.
“You and I, we are going to do such beautiful things together, William,” Vecna tells Will.
This early release offers a compelling glimpse into the new season’s tone and connection to past events.
