Santa Barbara County and community partners have vowed to protect 36 acres from mounting housing development pressures in perpetuity.

More Mesa, located just west of Hope Ranch, is a 325-acre area of oak woodlands, riparian habitat, and informal public trails used by various groups, including birdwatchers, bikers, dog walkers, and horseback riders.

A new conservation easement has been established to protect the 36-acre county-owned portion of More Mesa from development, while still allowing current recreational uses and park management.
