The Sydney to Auckland Ocean Race is evoking various emotions aboard the yachts at sea, as conditions shift from wild to light and tricky, with breakages taking their toll.
The 1250 nautical mile race has delivered diverse conditions, including hard reaching, grey skies, rain, starry nights, and beautiful sunrises, with crews experiencing cold as they approach Auckland.
"Well, looks like we might manage 24 hours without a sail change. We had a beautiful spinnaker reach all day yesterday on the back end of the south-westerly front that came through yesterday morning."
